Power Conductors
Our transportation division offers reliable and efficient solutions for all your transportation needs.
Advanced Power Conductor Solutions
We provide a comprehensive range of high-performance conductors engineered to support the diverse infrastructure needs of the African energy grid. From urban distribution to high-capacity transmission, our products are built to international standards (ASTM/IEC) for maximum reliability.
Our Specialized Conductor Portfolio
AAC (All Aluminum Conductor)
Material: 1350-H19 (EC grade) aluminum strands.
Standards: ASTM B231 / IEC 61089.
Construction: Concentric-lay stranded pure aluminum without a reinforcing core.
Electrical Properties: Conductivity: ~61% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard). Operating Temperature: Up to 75°C (continuous).
Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength: Lower than alloy or steel-core conductors. Weight: Lightweight.
Applications: Short spans and areas prone to coastal or chemical corrosion.
ABC (Aerial Bundled Cable)
Material: Insulated aluminum phase conductors (e.g., XLPE or HDPE insulation) with an optional steel or aluminum alloy messenger for support.
Standards: IEC 60502, ANSI/NEMA WC 70/71.
Construction: 3 or 4 insulated conductors bundled with a neutral/messenger at a typical voltage rating of 0.6/1 kV.
Electrical Properties: Current Capacity: Lower than bare conductors due to insulation. Safety: Reduced risk of faults from tree contact or bird strikes.
Construction: Stranded aluminum alloy without a steel core.
Electrical Properties: Conductivity: ~52-53% IACS (lower than AAC due to alloy). Operating Temperature: Up to 90°C.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength: Higher than AAC as the alloy enhances strength. Weight-to-Strength Ratio: Superior to ACSR in corrosive environments.
Applications: Medium to long spans in coastal or industrial areas
ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced)
Material: 1350-H19 aluminum outer layers with a galvanized steel core (Class A, B, or C coating).
Standards: ASTM B232 / IEC 61089.
Construction: Steel core surrounded by aluminum layers (e.g., 6/1 or 26/7 stranding).
Electrical Properties: Conductivity: ~61% IACS for the aluminum portion only. Current Capacity: Depends directly on the aluminum cross-sectional area.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength: Very high as the steel core supports the mechanical load. Sag: Higher than AAAC or ACCC at high temperatures.
Applications: Long-span transmission lines and river crossings.
ACSS (Aluminum Conductor Steel Supported)
Material: Annealed 1350-O aluminum outer layers (soft and fully annealed) with a galvanized steel core.
Standards: ASTM B856.
Construction: Similar to ACSR but utilizes annealed aluminum.
Electrical Properties: Conductivity: ~63% IACS as annealed aluminum improves conductivity. Ampacity: 20-30% higher than ACSR at high operating temperatures.
Mechanical Properties: Sag: Minimal sag at high temperatures because the aluminum yields and the steel core bears the load.
Applications: High-temperature environments, such as lines near thermal power plants.
ACCC (Aluminum Conductor Composite Core)
Material: 1350-H19 or 6201-T81 aluminum outer layers with a carbon fiber/glass fiber hybrid composite core.
Standards: ASTM B987.
Construction: Non-conductive, lightweight composite core with trapezoidal aluminum strands.
Electrical Properties: Conductivity: ~61–63% IACS. Ampacity: 2x higher than ACSR due to the larger aluminum area.
Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength: Comparable to steel while being 60% lighter. Sag: 25–40% less than ACSR or ACSS.
Applications: Grid modernization and high-capacity lines using existing towers.
